Larmer Brown achieves Cyber Essentials Plus Accreditation

Press Release: UK, Hampshire, 24 April 2024

Hampshire-based Learning Solutions Consultancy Larmer Brown has achieved Cyber Essentials Plus Accreditation for the fourth year running, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to cyber security.

Since 1 October 2014, the Government requires all suppliers bidding for contracts involving the handling of certain sensitive and personal information to be certified against the Cyber Essentials scheme.

“As an organisation working closely with the public sector, we see this accreditation as an essential requirement to demonstrate how seriously we take our commitment to ensuring that our client’s data is secure and protected,” commented Janice Brown, Managing Director at Larmer Brown.

The Cyber Essentials Certification offers peace of mind to organisations, and their clients, confirming that they have sufficient technical controls in place to defend against the vast majority of common cyber-attacks.

“In order to achieve Cyber Essentials Plus Accreditation, we have to prove the systems and processes we documented to achieve Cyber Essentials actually work in practice, by undergoing a technical audit by an approved IASM Certification Body,” added Janice.

Larmer Brown’s public sector clients include Her Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC), the Department for Work and Pensions, and Government Security Departments, as well as many local authorities and NHS Trusts. You can find more case studies on our website.

About Cyber Essentials Security

The Government worked with the Information Assurance for Small and Medium Enterprises (IASME) consortium and the Information Security Forum (ISF) to develop Cyber Essentials, a set of basic technical controls to help organisations protect themselves against common online security threats.

The full scheme, launched on 5 June 2014, enables organisations to gain one of two Cyber Essentials badges. It is backed by industry including the Federation of Small Businesses, the CBI and a number of insurance organisations, and suitable for all organisations of any size, in any sector.
